Privacy Policy

SocratMaths ("we", "us") provides maths practice for Year 4–7 students. This policy explains what personal data we collect and how we use it. This is a summary for users — it is not legal advice; a qualified adviser should review before production launch.
Data we collect
- Account: email, display name (via Clerk authentication)
- Profile: year level, learning goals
- Learning data: answers, working, scores, exam attempts, mastery, homework progress
- Preferences: notification settings (if enabled)
- Parent share links: optional read-only progress links you create
How we use data
- Provide adaptive practice, marking, mock exams, and teacher/class features
- Send optional email reminders if you opt in
- Improve the service (aggregated analytics only where applicable)
AI processing
When you submit answers or use the AI tutor, your question text, answer, and working may be sent to Anthropicfor automated marking and chat responses. We do not use your data to train public models. See Anthropic's privacy documentation for their processing terms.

Children and parents
Our service is aimed at school-age learners. If you are under 13, a parent or guardian should supervise account creation and use. Students may share a voluntary read-only link with parents; parents cannot access data without that link.
Your rights (UK/EU GDPR)
- Access / portability: download your data from Settings
- Erasure: delete your account from Settings (also removes Clerk sign-in)
- Rectification: update profile via onboarding or dashboard
- Object / restrict: contact us; disable email notifications in Settings
Retention
We keep learning data while your account is active. When you delete your account, personal data is removed from our database (subject to backup retention by our hosts). Revoked parent share links stop working immediately.
